Jerusalem
Day 2 1st impressions in Israel’s holiest city: Jerusalem has a perfect balance of modern and traditional values and architecture; Zionism is as ubiquitous as the city’s symbolic lion (of Judah); limestone covers every facade by law; the abundance of and growing vegetation is a bi-product of the country’s ingenious irrigation system; the word eclectic can’t begin to do it justice; the city holds more than 70 names; the weather is forgiving at night surprisingly at the apex of its summer; citrus fruits taste unlike their western counterparts; one of the safest places I’ve ever set foot on even with all the 18 year olds running around with semi-automatics.
